Girls of African descent will host Pope Francis next Sunday when he visits a poor Cartagena neighborhood that is the home of Talitha Qum, a program that seeks by means of religious faith to save little girls from the surrounding dangers of violence, prostitution and drugs.

Fourteen year old Saudi Arabian has been arrested for a video that went viral almost a year ago. The sordid crime? Publicly dancing to the Los del Río one-hit-wonder, Macarena, on the main road in Jeddah. Though admittedly humorous, the issue of his detainment is much more serious than the gleeful and choreographed wiggles would appear to indicate.

Una carta publicada en un semanario Jesuita por un padre católico y otro protestante - ambos muy próximos al Papa- acusa a la alianza entre integristas católicos y evangélicos en EE.UU de fomentar el fundamentalismo religioso en la política. La carta ha enfurecido a los católicos ultraconservadores americanos, entre ellos, el arzobisbpo católico de Filadelfia, que tildó a los autores de "idiotas útiles".

A new initiative in Southern California aims to unite Southern California's Muslim and Latino communities during the month of Ramadan. The charity campaign- which brings together both communities to enjoy tacos after fastening all day - is a response to the election of President Trump, which has left both America's Muslim and Latino communities feeling besieged, the organizers explain.
